Photogrammetry and 3D Scanning of Spaces – Digitisation of the City
The ARC, University of Glasgow

11 Chapel Ln, Glasgow G11 6EW
Specially for Sound Thought and the FRAGMENTING FORMS symposium, _VOID Nomadic Gallery ran a workshop titled Photogrammetry and 3D Scanning of Spaces – Digitisation of the City.

The workshop offered an engaging introduction to 3D scanning technology. Participants discovered the fundamentals of photogrammetry and explored how artists incorporate it into creative projects. During the hands-on session, attendees went out into the streets of Glasgow to capture and digitise fragments of urban space using their smartphones. Each participant had the opportunity to experiment with the technology and create their first 3D scan.

To take part, attendees needed an Android or iOS smartphone with enough storage to download the app, and a registered Google account or email address. The workshop was open to all curious minds, with no prior knowledge of 3D technology required..

SoundThought Symposium is a weekend of exciting workshops, talks, panel discussions, stationary media and installations at the Centre for Advanced Studies, a live performance at the University of Glasgow Concert Hall, a guided Sunday morning sound walk and a closing party at the Apollo Bar in the Flying Duck Hotel.
