Lecture course
_VOID nomadic gallery launches affordable educational program Lectorium. The first online lecture course 'Contemporary Screen-Based Artistic Practices: From Retrospect to Perspective' broadly covers screen-based artistic approaches. The course consists of 6 lectures, each of which takes place on Sundays. The program includes an overview of video art classics, the search for new aesthetic expression through digital technologies and artificial neural networks, an exploration of the relationship between performance and video art, and an analysis of how such works can shape spatial installations. The lectures are based on examples of works by artists widely known to the international community, such as Bill Viola, Nam June Paik, and Marina Abramovic, and emerging artists on the international scene who are boldly experimenting with screen technologies.

The series of lectures will give an introduction to the history of video art, knowledge of key artists, and current trends, and will help to develop a keen eye and understanding of the construction of concepts within the works.


The lectures will be given by Andrey Chugunov, co-organizer of _VOID, a conceptual artist working with digital and analog media, educator. Master of Digital Art and guest lecturer of academic courses on media design, web-based narratives, and a short guide for young artists. He has conducted workshops at cultural institutions in the field of media and sound art: Meditative Media, Sound Design Lab, and Fundamentals of Generative Graphics. Andrey got the New Faces Award in the Art division at the 22nd Japan Media Arts Festival in 2018. He is a nominee for the Sergey Kuryokhin Contemporary Art Award in the categories Media Art in 2022 and Science Art in 2020. Andrey got an honorable mention in Media art nomination and was shortlisted in Digital art nomination for the FutureTense award in 2022. Most of the projects were widely commissioned by art institutions. Several Chugunov's artworks are in private collections.
